OCTOBER MOB · WRAPPED OCTOBER 20, 2026

TAQUERIA
DON CHEPE

Thirty-six people made Taco Tuesday our biggest GastroMob kickoff yet. Shirts, family dinners, old friends, new faces. The whole point of this thing, sitting down to dinner together.

MOB WEEKOctober 13–20
Niles, Michigan

The food was good, fast, and accurate. The Don Chepe crew kept a steady stream of orders moving, and their prepaid-meal board was the kind of quiet neighbor-helping-neighbor move that says a lot about a place. Helping someone eat while letting them keep their dignity deserves some love.

October’s Mob week has wrapped, but Don Chepe is still there when you’re hungry. Thanks to everyone who pulled up a chair, shared a picture, and put some love into a local place. Next month we trade tacos for soup at Coney Express.

SEPTEMBER PIZZA MOB · FRESHIEEZ

FULL OF
DAIRY.

ELKHART · SEPTEMBER 19

Freshieez earned September with 470 votes in a field of 43 hometown pizza nominees. On a rainy kickoff, 19 people plus Bruce showed up and got the full tour: thin crust, thick crust, pan, Detroit, New York, Chicago, dessert pizza, ice cream, and eventually Tiny, their ridiculous 36 inch pizza.

The apple dessert pizza went over well, but people raved about the blueberry. Best of all, a young Mobber got to help build Tiny in his GastroMob shirt. That looked an awful lot like a core memory being made.

Freshieez does pizza right, but they do community even better. Their Giving Tree says it plain: need a meal, take a meal; got a meal, leave a meal.

Tiny was 36 inches of perfectly reasonable pizza behavior, followed by ice cream because apparently the dairy situation was still not complete.
